Event Description

Nonviolent Communication is a powerful set of communication tools that creates a shift of consciousness away from the power over structure and towards a world of deeper connection with ourselves and others.

The prison system is an ideal (and challenging) environment to utilize these tools and explore the possibility of another view. In this webinar we will discuss various ways NVC might be presented in prisons and similar settings. We will be offering exercises as well as ways to naturalize the NVC language.

Barbara Bash has been studying and practicing Nonviolent Communication for the past seven years. She has worked with a number of NVC trainers and completed the year long Bay NVC Leadership Program in 2009. She is also a visual artist and a long time meditation instructor in the Shambhala Buddhist community. Barbara has been co-facilitating a Buddhist meditation group in a New York maximum security prison for a number of years. She has brought NVC practices into the group and also helped develop a Life Skills curriculum that offers NVC practices to the broader prison population.

Kate Crisp is the Executive Director of PDN and Author of Path of Freedom workbook. She has been studying and teaching NVC for 8 years.

This looks to be greatttttt!
I will try to attend this but my money is tight at the moment due to an upcoming move down south due to a new job....that is if/when I receive word back concerning whether or not my "heightened security clearance" goes through after my potential employers at "the county" looked my paperwork over and figured out I have a criminal record from 26 1/2 years ago when I was barely an adult...I'm 46 this year btw. As some of us know though...it's the gift that keeps giving regardless of how long ago our involvement with the Criminal Just~Us System happened to be. (;o(

Presently I am involved in the occupy Chicago, I think this will come in handy as we try to bring the various factions together. We have many different groups with really different ideas as to how to deal with repairing the country. Mostly we agree with the idea of being non-violent but between the anarchists and the Ron Paul bunch it gets dicey from time to time.
