This is one of the most heart-wrenching and beautiful stories of forgiveness I have ever read. The strength and transformation that both parties endure over such a serious set of events is utterly mind-blowing and the example the original victim sets for the world is priceless.

I think it's important to talk about things like this because it shows how powerful forgiveness is. Now that the attacker has been given forgiveness, certainly he is a changed man, and she a stronger woman than ever.

Wow! I am sorry I missed this post - that was a deeply touching story about forgiveness.  We talk a lot about theories and practices of forgiveness here at PDN headquarters for our facilitator trainings.  Lately, we are exploring Psychologist Fred Luskin's ideas about forgiveness as a practice, about choosing to let go.  This article, though, is a powerful example of the wisdom of forgiveness arising from within in the moment.  I wish that happened more!
