Meditation Teaching Opportunity at the Boston County Jail

Hello, I’ve been teaching meditation as a volunteer at the Suffolk County House of Correction for 15 years, and I love doing it.  It’s one of the longest-running and most successful classes at the Jail. The program is every Monday morning from 10 to 11am (except holidays).  It’s very rewarding work, and I look forward to it every time.

I’ve been sharing the teaching work with Joel Baehr,  who has done an excellent job for four years, and now is moving on to teach at a state prison.  That leaves an immediate volunteer opening for teaching every other Monday morning.

The House of Correction is one of Boston’s county jails and is a minimum security facility with inmates with sentences of two years or less.  The class is held in the Chapel, and the facilities are modern and clean.  All the attendees are male inmates.

Requirements:

-     Have some meditation teaching experience, even if it’s informal, and must be able to teach in plain simple English.

-     Male (sorry, that’s the jail policy – all the inmates in this program are male.)

-         Must be able to drive to the Jail (near Boston City Hospital and Mass. Ave).

Please pass this on to your email lists and to anyone who may be interested.

Thank you.
