Hi All. After five years working one day a week, voluntarily, as a Buddhist chaplain in a maximum security prison I decided that it was time to ask 'what was it that i did'. I decided to do a review of my work. An interesting journey as I did some research on prison chaplaincy and found it thin on the ground. So I asked the question what is chaplaincy for a Buddhists and who constructs that. I found that question was not asked and most importantly that prisoners were not asked. Since they are the ones we  are there for it seems pretty logical to ask them. So I did a focus group with the prisoners and some in depth interviews plus got some feedback letters. I put it all in a 13 page document for use as a conversation around what we do. Interestingly it seems to have frightened people off as I have had no conversations initiated by it in Australia. It seems that more people want to talk about the idea of prison work rather than the reality. So I invite you all to have a conversation around it. I dont know how I can make it available on this site. So if you email me I can send it to you. Woops I have just seen attach a file at the bottom so file is attached.  Paddy
