Hi - I'm a dharma mentor through PDN to a man at Pelican Bay State Prison. He has been in solitary confinement for many years. He wrote in his last letter that the prison gets more money for keeping people in solitary confinement than in the ordinary blocks.

Since I am from Sweden and not that familiar with your prison system I wanted to ask if anyone of you know if that's true or if it's just a myth in prison?

As a dharma mentor to a prisoner from another country it's difficult to know how the system works for your dharma friend on the inside. And in difficult circumstances different "truths" often surfaces to give some meaning to one's experiences.
