Here is a Synopsis of what the book is about.Meditation helps us relax, sharpens our minds, and increases our creativity. In The Tibetan Book of Meditation, Lama Christie McNally demonstrates that meditation also…See More

Welcome!

Greetings and salutations! This being my first blog I wish to introduce myself and maybe do a beginning meditation and a beginning Buddhism series. But first the introduction. You can call me Ayla and I have been a minister for at least 2 years now if not longer. I become Buddhist when I was 16 years old and have been studying and living the dharma ever since then. I just recently got back into the habit of meditation and would like to share the wonderful world of meditation and dharma with all…See More

I have been Buddhist since I was 16. I recently felt that I should or could help fellow Buddhists or Non Buddhists by helping them meditate and learning the benefits of meditation. Also for those interested in learning about meditation and Buddhism I have started a blog here on the community. I am also an ordained minister.

In this blog post I wanted to write about the Life of the Buddha and explain the Four Noble Truths in more detail. So lets get started!

The Life of the Buddha

Siddhartha Gautama was born about 583 BCE, in or near what is now Nepal. His father, King Suddhodana, was leader of a large clan called the Shakya. His mother, Queen Maya, died shortly after his birth.

When Prince Siddhartha was a few days old, a holy man prophesied the Prince would be either a… Continue

Here I will present the basics of Buddhism starting with:

What Is Buddhism?

Buddhism is a religion based on the teachings of Siddhartha Gautama, who lived about 26 centuries ago in what is now Nepal and northeastern India. He came to be called "the Buddha," which means "awakened one," after he experienced a profound realization of the nature of life, death and existence. In English, the Buddha was said to be enlightened, although in Sanskrit it is bodhi,… Continue
