- I used to work with prisoners when I practiced at the Rochester Zen Center under the guidance of Roshi Kapleau. He sent me to various jails in Monroe County, New York.

- I lead the Zen Heart Meditation group here in SF and have often written about prisons and prisoners over a lifetime. Teaching inmates how to meditate is of inestimable benefit for all involved.
