So your husband has been incarcerated for a long time and I'm sorry to hear that but here in Britain a couple Members of Parliament (congress in the USA) decided to come down hard on crime, not only to crimes committed in the now but also the crimes of people already convicted and sentenced. Life had to mean life and sentences for crimes had to be harsher so that everyone would get the message and behave themselves. Well its hard for the people to be crime free because legislation is coming into every arena of our lives right now. You cannot even throw a cigarette butt on the sidewalk these days for fear of being caught and fined for it! The law makers are the biggest perpetrators of the laws they create, corruption is rife in the higher echelons of society and they seem to be immune to authority because they are the authority. It's all the wrong way around and we all know it but what to do? Buddha had the right idea, he asked all the right questions and he found the answer and spent the rest of his life sharing his wisdom with all and sundry regardless of cast or creed. He saw through all the rubbish and said so, not only that, he had an answer to the mystery of this life. He would reveal this to any person who had the true desire to KNOW. This is the nub of it all, KNOWING deep within our hearts the essence of this life and that can only be found within and can be shown by a living master. You need a living doctor to administer the medicine to a living patient. No matter how revered a doctor may be, if he is dead all his skill and brilliance died with him but there were others who studied under him to carry on the work he was doing. It is the same with the Master, there is always a living Master with us on the planet but he must reveal himself and we must be able to respond. Then and then only can we come to understand about this life and this journey we are on. We are all in prisons of our own making, we may think we are free but what is true freedom? Can we see it, can we buy it, can we build it? Surely true freedom is a feeling, no matter where we are freedom can be felt. I know this because even in prison I could still feel that freedom within me. The freedom from doubt, from anxiety, from pain in the heart just the feeling of joy at knowing the beauty that exists in my heart. That is always with me and no one can take it away because it is within and when it goes I will go too because that is who I am, the feeling heart within. Tell your husband that although he is in prison and depending on the prison authorities he can find out how this can be achieved and I would be happy to help in any way I can but as I said before you can check it out for yourself on www.wordsofpeace.net.

Hi Roxanne, Being a Buddhist for 39 years, that's quite impressive, have you checked www.wordsofpeace.net. Not everyone is a Buddhist but they are all human beings and as such have the ability to find true and lasting peace in this lifetime. This what the website I gave you addresses, true and lasting peace, not just for any particular religion or cult. However, which way we find peace in our lives is up to the individual I have found that peace in my life and I just want to share it with mt fellow human beings. I spent 4 years in prison but it did not stop me from being able to experience the peace that exists within me thanks to the Knowledge that Prem Rawat (aka Maharaji) revealed to me. It also made my life quite joyful as I had plenty of time to sit and practice what I had been shown. So meet the Buddha within you.
