- I have been a student in a zen chaplaincy program at the Zen Center For Contemplative Care in New York City and will be completing this 10 month program in July. I will begin volunteering at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility next Wednesday, so I have so far no experience and much to learn, but I'm anxious to get going.
- Tell us about yourself & your interest in prison dharma: (answer required) .
- I am married and have 4 grown sons. For the past 14 years I have been a hospice nurse and volunteered for a crisis intervention helpline for more than 20 years. I love animals and have 3 laborador retrievers and one, fearless cat. I also love to read (especially about zen). Have been practicing zen for the past 6 years with a wonderful sangha located at Rutgers university in New Jersey. We do lots of zazen and many retreats and this has been a real gift in my life.
