Tell us about yourself & your interest in prison dharma: (answer required) .
I spent four years in juvenile detention, as well as numerous stints in county jail, here and there. Closely avoided 7 year sentence and a 5 year sentence. Was exposed to the Dharma through Noah Levines book "Dharma Punx" and soon there after started Profound Existence, Boston's Dharma Punx group. I am interested with working with at-risk and troubled youth as well as being a friend to inmates who normally have no one to turn to for guidance. I am at my best when being of service to those I feel a sense of indentification with due to my sordid past.

Hi Sean,   I too felt compelled to deepen my practice
after reading Dharma Punx.  I was also forever transformed by a book moans father wrote called " one year to live" lived every day 'knowing' I  had only a year to live. I journaled every day and found my creativity and passion for life increase. I was going through a terrible time w my lupus and it really helped me keep not only my Tibetan Buddhist faiith in perspective but also allowed me the
The luxury of not having to think so far ahead.  It was an impressive experience in my life I still look back on. I may just recommit to another year. That's the beauty of this exercise. Every new day we can change our life and live it to the fullest!
 Namaste, Iris
