I am currently attending Humboldt State University after coming here from the East Los Angeles/Downtown L.A. area. I am in the graduates program @ their school of social work and continue to learn an awful lot! I have a drug history and have been incarcerated within the L.A. County Jail system but thankfully did not do prison time before vowing to do everything within my power to discontinue my visits and pursue drug treatment...etc. I have been sitting Zazen on a daily basis for a little over a year now informally after receiving instruction at a local Zen Center and have recently become interested in pursuing a more formal practice if anybody out there has suggestions for me. I am also trying to figure out how I might incorporate mindfulness based practice into the rest of my study in order to ultimately make it a large part of my work with others. Again, if anyone has any suggestions about how I might want to pursue this then please write!
