New research suggests meditation may improve certain brain regions and help them with memory, sense of self, empathy and stress.

How Prisoners might Learn the Dharma a Bit More Easily
I have been told, by the powers that be in the Florida DOC, the average grade level of a prisoner in our state is 6th. This is challanging to say the least when some is trying to expeirecne the dharma beyond sitting meditation. TIbetan texts especially can be challanging However, a lot of prisoners are karmicly drawn to it whether they understand it or not--or at least well enough to explain how they underddrand it to others.

I’ve worked with “slow” learners all of my 26 years as a teacher.
