This morning five of us from the Second Life global meditation group gathered to meditate for world peace for 20 minutes on Commonwealth Island. We had a monk from Kentucky, me from Boulder Colorado, a woman from the UK (midlands), Jonas from Lithuania, and another woman from Switzerland. And at the noon meditation another group of five met at the Nonprofit Commons from Paris, Colorado, the Netherlands, Nottingham UK, and Switzerland.
Does it seem weird to 'meditate' in SL?? Perhaps, but if are practicing meditation in RL while your avatar 'sits'... and see vividly that you are in a global group together in real time...well,... I found it very very inspiring. For me group meditations are a powerful way to reconnect with peace and support my daily practice.
Peacemaker Institute will offer this 8am short SLT meditation every day at our space on Commonwealth Island and another one at noon weekdays at the PI/Prison Dharma Network office in the Nonprofit Commons.
Please consider joining us for a few minutes...to meditate, contemplate or pray for world peace!
