A prison chaplain's memoir shares thoughts on spirituality

“Chaplain Ed's Thinkn's on the Matter” by Edward Yrisarri Jr. brings conversations about topics of eternal interest with the incarcerated to the general public - PRNewsChannel.com

Edward Yrisarri Jr.’s “Chaplain Ed’s Thinkn’s on the Matter” shares a series of conversations he had with prison inmates as a minister. Yrisarri shows the importance of reaching out to the incarcerated and the impact prison ministry can have on inmates serving long-term sentences.

His book presents deep conversations with jailed inmates on a variety of topics including spirituality to help stimulate thought processes, meditation to ease the mind and understanding various philosophies. Yrisarri’s time spent in prisons spreading the word led him to compile his conversations with inmates and experiences into an uplifting and encouraging book.

“I worked as a county prison and jail chaplain ministering to a wide range of inmates who committed everything from misdemeanors to felonious armed robberies, molestations and murders,” Yrisarri says. “The questions asked about spiritual matters provoked deep thought, meditation and study. The result was a series of articles on each serious matter.”

While his book is targeted toward current inmates, their families and prison chaplains, Yrisarri realized that incarcerated or not, the basic concept of spirituality will resonate with everyone. He hopes the candidness of the inmates will encourage readers to indulge in a further study of spirituality and meditation.
