Hi Carter, Well I reconnected to the network because I wanted to help connect the penpal experience with people at my meditation center and perhaps add a new penpal into my life as well. How do I connect to this aspect? Lynn
Hi Carter, Thank You for the warm greeting. I'll be reading and commenting in days to come, and perhaps sharing fragments of my own memoirs here and there. Namaste' -Dan
Is the directory a listing of locations where mindfulness is being taught to underserved populations? Yes, I am happy to share more info about my work at Faiton. Just let me know how much detail...lol!
Thanks for the resources. I live in the panhandle and most of these look like they are not in this area. However, I will look into them and contact some of them anyway. Thank you!
hello! thank you for your message... I've been hoping to start a program at one of the local youth centers for BD students (some of whom I teach) and/or a local prison. I've been told "no" by two groups/prisons already - they said I would need a team and it would need to be a state approved program only.
I teach at a local high school now, but I'm looking to put a program together for more BD students/youth since they have been taking so well to the mindfulness and meditation courses I've been doing with them. I guess I just need a few pointers on how to get the attention from a director or warden? thanks again!
I'm a new member, just starting to look at the landscape. I found a trio of people who run free guided mindfulness meditations out of the local Unitarian church. They have connections to a group that does prison work in Boston (100 miles from me). I'm also thinking about other possibilities such as working with people just out of prison, rehab, and shelters. Have been 'studying' the teaching of mindfulness, meanwhile. Thanks for (helping with) creating/running this network - it's nice to have as a reference and support.
Hi, I've signed up for the course next May, but I would like to be certain about how to do it, to pay, and in general be prepared. Last one I missed because of my lack of preparedness I believe. So could you advise. thanks, charlie.
Thank you! I'm looking forward to learning more about how I can participate in addressing what the Europeans are calling (according to a recent article) our 'punitivity.'
Thank you so much for your enthusiastic invitation. Such is the evidence for the magnificent online community you describe, that I am now honored to be a part of. You will see that we share many intentions with our work with people behind walls, and those on the unfortunate pipeline. Only good can come our collaborative efforts. I will be back to share more….
Dear Carter, thank you for your note today, and I will work to get a photo placed on my profile. I'm grateful to be a part of PDN and look forward to many excellent interactions with the PDN organization and its members, and significant and meaningful learning opportunities. Gassho. Michael
Carter, Greetings in the Dhamma! Thank you so much for your kind words. I am looking forward too meeting like-minded folks who want to share the Dhamma with those behind bars in order that they too can be free.
